MILWAUKEE, Wis. – IUPUI used 22 kills from Kaitlyn Hickey to defeat Wichita State 3-1 in the Marquette Invitational. The Jaguars won by scores of 25-21, 19-25, 25-22 and 25-17.
Abbie Lehman led the Shockers with 16 kills, while
Emily Hiebert had 44 assists and
Dani Mostrom had 12 digs.
The Shockers jumped out to a 6-2 lead in the first set, but the Jaguars came back to tie it at nine. A 5-0 run put IUPUI up 15-11, but the Shockers came back to take a 19-18 lead on a kill by
Katie Reilly. The Jaguars went on to win the set 25-21.

MaryAshton Floyd put WSU up 15-14 and the Shocks increased the lead to 23-19 on a kill from
Katy Dudzinski. WSU won the set 25-19 on a service ace from
Dani Mostrom.
The fourth set went back and forth until the Jaguars took a 9-7 lead with a block. The Shockers answered with a 3-0 run to go in front 10-9, but IUPUI responded with a 4-0 run to take a 13-10 lead. Two-straight Jaguar kills and a block increased their lead to 19-13, but the Shockers tied it at 22. IUPUI scored the final three points to win the set 25-22.
IUPUI raced out to a 4-0 lead in the fourth set and increased the lead to 7-2 with a kill. The Shockers pulled to within 9-8 on a block by Reilly and Lehman, but three-straight Jaguar kills gave IUPUI a 17-13 lead. Two-straight Shocker hitting errors put IUPUI up 20-15 and the Jaguars won the set 25-17.
The Shockers are next in action tonight at 5 p.m. against Albany.
