DALLAS, Texas – No. 9 Dallas Baptist held on to take game one of the series over Wichita State with a 2-1 win.

Sam Hilliard went 3-for-5 with an RBI and a home run to lead the Shockers.

Starter Isaac Anderson went six innings and gave up one earned run on eight hits with two walks and three strikeouts.

Chane Lynch led off the bottom of the third with a solo home run to give the Patriots a 1-0 lead.

DBU added another run in the sixth. With one out, Tagg Duce singled and moved to third on a single from Daniel Sweet. Duce scored on a throwing error on a failed pickoff attempt to increase the lead to 2-0.

Sam Hilliard broke up the shutout with a solo home run in the top of the seventh to cut the lead to 2-1.

The Shockers and Patriots play game two of the series on Fri., May 15 at 6:30 p.m.
