WICHITA, Kan. -- The Wichita State men's tennis team defeated No. 40 Denver by a 6-1 count, Friday afternoon at Genesis.
WSU (7-3) won the doubles point and five of the six singles matches. Denver fell to 6-4 on the year.
"Everyone contributed to this win. We played solid doubles and then jumped out fast in singles," said WSU head coach Brad Louderback. "We got the momentum early and kept it throughout. It was a well-fought match."
Tin Ostojic (ITA No. 61) defeated No. 69 Henry Craig of Denver, 6-4, 6-4 and teamed with Tomislav Gregurovic for a 6-4 victory at No. 1 doubles.
Gregurovic fell in a close singles match to Diogo Rocha (ITA No. 96), 7-6, 7-5.
The rest of the Shocker lineup shined. Jocelyn Devilliers and Miroslav Herzan teamed up for a 6-2 win at No. 3 doubles. Herzan bounced back from a first-set loss to defeat David Fox at No. 5 singles, 5-7, 6-2, 6-4, and Devilliers was a winner at No. 6 singles, 7-6, 6-3.
Ilija Cuic and Guillermp de Vilchez both won in straight-sets at the No. 3 and 4 positions.
The Shockers are back in action Sunday against Emporia State (1 pm) and Tuesday against Texas-Arlington (2 pm). Both matches will be played at Genesis.
