WICHITA, Kan. -- Wichita State (20-4, 11-1) defeated the Bradley Braves (4-20, 3-10), 66-36, to secure its fourth-straight 20-win season Sunday afternoon inside Charles Koch Arena.
WSU senior guard Alex Harden scored 26 points to lead game scoring, while Jamillah Bonner had 18 and Kelsey Jacobs had 10. Harden continued her all-around game with eight rebounds, five steals, three assists and one block while she inched closer to becoming WSU's all-time leading scorer, needing 121 points.
Whitney Tinjum, Fantasia Vine and Tamya Sims each had six points to lead the Braves, who shot 34.2 percent (13-38) from the field and just 11.1 percent (1-9) from the arc while committing 28 turnovers, including 17 in the first half.
The Shockers shot 52.2 percent (24-46) from the field for the game, but just 22.2 percent (2-9) from the arc while giving 14 assists on the 24 buckets.
To open the second half, WSU extended the lead to 30 points, 47-17, with a 14-4 run as the
Braves had buckets at the 19:19 mark and the 13:24 mark. WSU's defense would give up just five more buckets the rest of the way.
Harden eclipsed the 20-point mark with a layup at the 8:35 mark for 21 points, then hit a long-range three at the 6:55 mark to put WSU up 27, 56-29, and give her 24.
Harden's bucket gave her a game-high 26 points at the 2:56 mark, before two free throws by Bonner gave WSU its largest lead at 32 with 2:27 left.
Two free throws by BU's Tinjum with 1:20 left fashioned the final score, 66-36.
In the first half, the Shockers jumped out to a 10-6 lead with a press defense that caused eight turnovers in the first six minutes. Bonner had six of WSU's first 10 points.
The Braves cut it to four two times before the Shockers extended the lead to eight with a 6-2 run at the 9:34 mark on a Bonner jumper that gave her eight points.
The Shockers went ahead by 11 with Jacobs' two free throws at 12:20, then Dapprich also hit two at the line to put WSU up 13, 23-10. Dapprich's jumper at 5:42 made the lead 15.
By the 2:42 mark of the first half, WSU had forced 16 Bradley turnovers with the press, the last on a Harden steal and assist to Jacobs to put WSU ahead 19, 31-12.
Three free throws by BU and two by WSU closed scoring in the final 2:42 of the half for a 33-15 Wichita State lead.
Alex Harden had nine points to lead WSU in the first half, while Tinjum and Young had four points to lead the Braves. The Shockers held the Braves to 26.3 percent shooting (5-19) while BU committed 17 turnovers.
Wichita State is next in action 7 p.m., Friday at Illinois State before traveling to SIU for a 2 p.m., Sunday game.
