Postgame Press ConferenceWICHITA, Kan.- The Wichita State volleyball team fell to Southern Illinois 3-0 on Friday night inside Charles Koch Arena. The Shockers lost by scores of 25-23, 25-20 and 25-22.

Abbie Lehman led the Shocker attack with 14 kills, hitting .609.
Emily Hiebert contributed 36 assists while
Dani Mostrom added 19 digs.

In the first set, back-to-back kills by Hiebert and a kill by
Mikaela Raudsepp gave the Shockers their first lead of the set, 6-4. The Salukis fought back and eventually took a 12-8 lead, forcing Wichita State to take a timeout. Back-to-back strikes from the Shockers cut the Saluki lead to 16-14 and later, a kill by Larson kept the Salukis within reach at 19-17 and forced Southern Illinois take a timeout. Down 24-20, Wichita State fought to pull within two 24-22, but the Salukis went on to take the opening set 25-23.

A block by Lehman and Reilly and an ace by Reilly gave the Shockers an early 4-2 advantage in the second set. The teams traded points until Southern Illinois strung a couple of points together to take a 10-8 lead. Later, a Larson kill and another Shocker ace, this time by
Gabi Mostrom, cut the Saluki lead to 19-17 and forced the visitors to take a timeout. Later, Southern Illinois rattled off three-straight points to stretch its lead to 22-18 and force the Shockers to take a timeout of their own. The Salukis won the second set 25-20.

Wichita State started the third set off with a block by Lehman and Fayad that saw the home team with an early 2-1 lead, but later, with the set tied at five, the Salukis rattled off two consecutive points take a 7-5 advantage. Southern Illinois led for much of the set, going up by as many as four points before a kill by Lehman and an ace by Hiebert cut the lead to 18-16. A Reilly kill tied the match at 21, but it wasn't enough as the visitors went on to clinch the match by winning the third set 25-22.

The Shockers are next in action on Saturday, Nov. 21 when they welcome Evansville to Charles Koch Arena. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
