Box Score (PDF)Wichita, Kan. – The Wichita State women's basketball team fell to the Missouri Tigers Wednesday night in Koch Arena, 57-37.
The Shockers were led by
Diamond Lockhart with a team-high nine points and
Jaleesa Chapel with a team-high five rebounds.
The Tigers were led by Sierra Michaelis who had a game-high 13 points. Junior Jordan Frericks contributed with six rebounds.
Missouri jumped out to an early 10-0 lead in the first quarter, but back-to-back three-pointers by
Jyar Francis and
Diamond Lockhart cut the lead to 10-6. Two more free-throws by Missouri gave the Tigers a 12-6 lead at the end of the first quarter.
In the second quarter, the Tigers quickly pushed their lead to 18-6 before a three-pointer by
Diamond Lockhart made the Tigers lead, 18-9.
The second quarter ended with Missouri leading the Shockers, 28-16.
An early 5-0 run by the Tigers in the third quarter pushed the lead to 33-16.
After two straight buckets by the
TaQuandra Mike and
Diamond Lockhart cut the Tigers lead to 41-27 at the end of the third quarter.
A three-pointer early in the third quarter by
Jaleesa Chapel cut the lead to 12, but a run by the Tigers pushed the lead to 49-31.
A strong end to the fourth quarter gave the Tigers a 57-37 victory.
The Shockers are in action again on Saturday, Nov. 21, against Arkansas State at 7:00 p.m. in Jonesboro, Ark.
