EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Wichita State hit .383 on the way to a 3-0 win over Evansville. The Shockers won by scores of 25-16, 25-16 and 25-15.
Abbie Lehman led the Shockers with 10 kills and seven blocks, while
Emily Hiebert had seven kills and 33 assists.
Dani Mostrom led the Shockers with 12 digs.
UE took a quick 6-3 lead in the first set, but the Shockers used a 5-0 run to go in front 9-7. Two-straight blocks by the Shockers increased the lead to 13-9 and three-straight kills made the score 17-11. WSU won the set 25-16 on a kill from Hiebert.
A kill from Hiebert gave the Shocks an early 6-3 lead in the second set. The Purple Aces pulled to within 16-14 with a service ace, but the Shockers scored nine of the final 11 points to win 25-16.
The Shockers raced out to a 5-1 lead in the third set after a block by
Shimen Fayad and
Abbie Lehman. A
Mikaela Raudsepp kill increased the lead to 15-7 and WSU closed out the set 25-15 on another Raudsepp kill.
The Shockers are next in action on Fri., Oct. 9 at UNI at 7 p.m.
