SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Wichita State volleyball team hit .331 on the way to a 3-0 win at Missouri State. The Shockers won by scores of 25-14, 25-20 and 25-21.
Katie Reilly led the Shockers with 13 kills, while
Emily Hiebert had 27 assists and
Jody Larson had 18 digs.
The Shockers jumped out to a 10-4 lead in the first set and increased it to 14-7 after back-to-back kills from Reilly. A service ace from
Dani Mostrom gave WSU a 21-13 lead and the Shockers won the set 25-14 on a kill from
Abbie Lehman.
The second set went back and forth until a 4-0 run gave the Shockers a 9-5 lead. A Reilly kill put WSU up 17-12, but the Bears pulled to within 17-14. A kill from
Katy Dudzinski made the score 21-16 and WSU closed out the set 25-20 on a Reilly kill.
The Bears took a quick 4-1 lead in the third set, but the Shockers answered with a 4-0 run to go in front 5-4. A kill by
Mikaela Raudsepp gave WSU a 14-8 lead and a Lehman kill increased it to 18-12. MSU pulled to within 22-18 on a Shocker error, but WSU won the set 25-21.
The Shockers are next in action on Mon., Nov. 2 at Southern Illinois at 7 p.m.
