TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Wichita State won the 29th-straight meeting against Indiana State with a 3-0 win over the Sycamores. The Shockers won by scores of 25-18, 25-22 and 26-24.
Mikaela Raudsepp led the Shockers with 13 kills and hit .522, while
Emily Hiebert had 19 assists and
Dani Mostrom had 12 digs.
WSU took a quick 3-0 lead in the first set, but the Sycamores came back to take an 8-5 lead after a couple of Shocker errors. Three-straight kills tied the score at eight and a service ace from
Shimen Fayad gave WSU a 10-8 lead. Two-straight kills from
Mikaela Raudsepp increased the lead to 16-9 and WSU went on to win the set 25-18.
Kills from
Katie Reilly and Raudsepp gave WSU a 7-3 lead in the second set and a kill from
Jody Larson increased the lead to 14-9. INS used three-straight kills to pull within 15-12, but another kills from Larson gave WSU a 23-16 lead. The Sycamores used a 5-0 run to pull within 23-21, but the Shockers closed out the set 25-22 on a kill from Larson.
The Sycamores jumped out to a 4-1 lead in the third set, but the Shockers came back to tie it at five after a kill from Reilly. INS used a 3-0 run to go in front 8-5, but the Shockers pulled to within 10-9 after a kill and block by
Abbie Lehman. The Sycamores responded with a 4-1 run to take a 14-10 lead, but the Shockers came back to tie it at 16 on an INS hitting error. A kill by Lehman put WSU up 20-17, but the Sycamores tied it at 21 with a kill. The two teams traded points until the Shockers won the set 26-24 on a service ace from Fayad.
The Shockers are next in action on Sat., Oct. 31 at Missouri State at 7 p.m.
