WICHITA, Kan. - Wichita State closed out the fall season with a three-match sweep on a cool, breezy afternoon Saturday at the Sheldon Coleman Tennis Center. WSU took care of business with wins over Seminole State (4-3), McPherson (6-0) and Cowley (5-0).

"Today was definitely a tough day and we really grew up as a team," said Wichita State head coach Brad Louderback. "I think our doubles got stronger. In the Seminole State match, it was great to see our two freshmen (Haru Inoue and Eddie Stoica) come back and get that match for us. It was a great effort from everybody today."

The Shockers started the day with a tight 4-3 win over Seminole State. WSU claimed the doubles point to begin the match with wins at No. 2 and No. 3. Miroslav Herzan and Haru Inoue defeated Anru Fourie and Stefan Gonzalez, 8-2, while Vitor Mendes and Sergio de Vilchez took down Chisomo Lumeta and Innocent Tidimane by a score of 8-2 as well.

In singles, de Vilchez, Inoue and Eddie Stoica collected wins with Inoue coming through with the match-clinching win at No. 3 singles.

After dropping the first set, 6-3, Inoue regrouped to take sets two and three, 6-4 and 10-5 over Gonzalez to give WSU the win. At No. 5 singles, Stoica defeated Fourie, 4-6, 7-6(5), 10-7. Sergio de Vilchez made quick work of Tidimane by winning in straight sets, 6-3, 6-1.

Wichita State then began the afternoon with a 6-0 win over McPherson. The Shockers again took the doubles point with wins from Herzan and Inoue at No. 2 and de Vilchez and Mendes at No. 3, both by scores of 6-0.

Ostojic, Inoue, de Vilchez, Stoica and Mendes then registered wins in singles to secure the victory for WSU.

The final match of the day pitted Wichita State vs. Cowley, and the Shockers put the finishing touches on a 3-0 day.

WSU took the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2. Stoica and Tin Ostojic defeated Reynaud and Ruyfikiri, 6-1, and Herzan and Inoue won 6-2 over Borrero and Michenka to go 3-0 in doubles on the day.

Inoue, de Vilchez, Stoica and Austin Williams picked up wins in singles on court Nos. 2, 3, 4 and 6.
