Photo GalleryWICHITA, Kan. – The Wichita State volleyball team lost to Missouri State 3-1 at Charles Koch Arena. The Bears won by scores of 20-25, 25-22, 27-25 and 25-22.
Freshman
Shimen Fayad led the Shockers with 20 kills in the match. Sophomore
Emily Hiebert had 51 assists.
The Shockers won the first set 25-20, helped by
Abbie Lehman's five kills. Neither team hit over .103 in the set.
Wichita State hit a higher percentage than Missouri State in the second set, but crucial blocks and a couple aces helped the Bears take the set 25-22 to tie the match up at 1-1.
The third set saw seven lead changes and 12 tie scores throughout, as the Bears were able to edge out a 27-25 win.
Fayad had eight kills for the Shockers in the final set, but Missouri State outhit the Shockers .267 to .244 to win the set and the match 25-22.
The Shockers dropped to 11-6 overall and 2-1 in Valley play. WSU is next in action on Mon., Oct. 5 at Evansville at 7 p.m.
