WICHITA, Kan. -- Wichita State (15-3, 6-0) out-distanced Illinois State (0-17, 0-6),83-38, Friday night behind four double-figure scorers led by Michaela Dapprich's 18 points.
For the second-straight game WSU had four-double-figure scorers as Jamillah Bonner, Alex Harden and Alie Decker backed Dapprich with 17, 14 and 13 points, respectively.
In addition, Kelsey Jacobs' all-around play was reflected in her eight points, eight rebounds and career-high eight assists.
Katy Winge had nine points to pace the Redbirds as eight of the nine that played, scored.
WSU out-shot ISU, 50.8 percent (33-65) to 25.5 percent (13-51) and forced the Redbirds into 22 turnovers. WSU had 33 baskets, 18 which came on assists.
With a 20-point halftime lead, the Shockers extended that to 26, 47-21, with six-straight points in the first 1:56. WSU also held the Redbirds scoreless for the first 2:50 until Winge hit a three-pointers at 17:10.
WSU continued to extend the lead to 31, 55-24 by the 15:21 mark with the 14-3 run, which turned into a 27-7 run by the media timeout at 7:28 and a 40-point lead at 7:23 on two free throws by Brittney Martin.
WSU took its largest lead at the 56-second mark on Jaleesa Chapel's jumper to make the score 83-35.
To open the game, Wichita State jumped out to a 17-6 lead, with six points from Jacobs and a three-pointer from Decker at the 12:27 mark that forced an ISU timeout. Less than a 15 seconds later, Michaela Dapprich made it 19-6 on a layup.
ISU's Hall hot a trey from the right wing to cut the WSU lead to 10, but Decker made her second trey to answer, 22-9, at 10:31.
After the two teams traded baskets, WSU went on a 10-4 run, which included five potions by Dapprich to take a 16-point lead at 2:54.
By halftime, WSU extended the lead to 41-21 with baskets by Harden and Dapprich in the final two minutes.
Decker and Dapprich led all scorers with 11 points, while ISU's Winge had six points. WSU out-shot ISU, 50 percent (17-34) TO 30.8 percent (8-26). ISU also committed 12 turnovers in the first frame, while 11 of WSU's 17 baskets came with assists.
Wichita State is next in action Sunday at home against SIU at approximately 3:30 or 30 minutes following the men's 1 p.m. game.
