CHICAGO, Ill. -- Wichita State defeated Loyola, 65-41, Sunday afternoon to improve to 14-3, 5-0 in the Missouri Valley Conference inside the Ramblers' Gentile Arena.
Four double-figure scorers, led by Alie Decker's 15 points and Kelsey Jacobs' double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds, helped the Shockers out-score the Ramblers 40-18 in the second half. Jacobs also had seven assists.
Alex Harden had 14 points and Michaela Dapprich had 11 points to round-out WSU's double-figure scorers.
To open the second half, WSU went on an 8-2 run after a Jody Adams called timeout at the 19:15 mark to a Loyola timeout at 17:28 to lead 33-25.
The Shockers increased the lead to 17, 49-32, after back-to-back three pointers by Alie Decker, the
second at the 10:56 mark.
A 26-8 run, including 10 points by Decker since the timeout, gave WSU a 51-35 lead at 9:10. WSU's 7-0 run over the next four minutes gave WSU a 22-point lead that increased to 26 with 30 seconds left.
Loyola hit a jumper with three seconds left to fashion the final score, 65-41.
Wichita State opened the first half shooting 14 percent (1-7) into the first media timeout at 15:45, and only improved to 21.1 percent (4-19) by the 7:38 mark.
The Shockers' Michaela Dapprich and Kelsey Jacobs each had seven points, by the 3:55 mark, but did not score again in the half.
WSU went back up 25-21 on Bonner's first field goal of the half at 1:29 after six misses but LU finished the scoring for the half with jumper by Johnson with 27 seconds left to fashion the halftime score, 25-23.
In the first half, the Ramblers out-shot the Shockers, 23.3 percent (7-30) to 38.1 percent (8-21). Michaela Dapprich and Kelsey Jacobs each had seven points for WSU, while Farley had seven to lead the Ramblers.
Wichita State returns home to face Illinois State at 7 p.m., Fri., Jan. 23.
