SAN ANTONIO, Texas – No. 63 Wichita State defeated the University of Texas-San Antonio (UTSA) Friday at the UTSA Tennis Center in San Antonio. The Shockers improved to 11-7 and 2-0 on their state of Texas road trip while UTSA dropped to 6-11.

Doubles play began when Tin Ostojic/Tomislav Gregurovic of No. 63 Wichita State defeated No. 33 Joel Rubio/Tomas Stillman of UTSA by an 8-3 score at No. 1 doubles. The Roadrunners tied the doubles portion when Yannick Junger/Boburjon Jamiljanov beat Ilija Cuic/Jocelyn Devilliers 8-4 at No. 2 doubles.

At No. 3 doubles, Guillermo de Vilchez/Guillermo Nicol clinched the doubles point and gave the Shockers the 1-0 dual-match lead when they won 8-7(8) over Diogo Casa/Fabian Brand.

Ibian Hodgson was first off the courts at No. 6 singles, winning his match 6-2, 6-4 against Matt Mussenden to give the Shockers a 2-0 dual-match lead. No. 63 Wichita State's lead was pushed to 3-0 when de Vilchez earned a 6-4, 6-3 victory in his match with Kolby Kilgo at No. 5 singles.

At No. 4 singles, Nicol defeated Casa 6-4, 6-2 and Gregurovic took down Rubio 4-6, 6-2, 6-3 at No. 3 singles to take the Shocker advantage from 3-0 to 5-0. Ostojic (No. 20 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's Central Singles Rankings) extended the Shocker lead to 6-0 after his 2-6, 6-3, 6-1 win over Stillman at No. 2 singles.

UTSA won their only singles match and earned their only point of the day at No. 1 singles when Junger beat Cuic 6-4, 7-6(4). This cut the Shocker lead to the 6-1 final score.

No. 63 Wichita State completes their three dual-match state of Texas road trip when they take on the University of Texas-Arlington (UTA) on Monday at the UTA Tennis Center in Arlington, Texas at 2 p.m. Results will be posted following the completion of play.
