NORMAN, Okla. – The 63rd ranked WSU men's tennis team fell to ninth-ranked Oklahoma by a score of 7-0 during their dual match at the Gregg Wadley Indoor Tennis Pavilion in Norman.
No. 9 Oklahoma started off the dual match with a victory from Dane Webb/Andrew Harris in the doubles draw. They defeated Tomislav Gregurovic/Tin Ostojic of WSU by a score of 6-0.
Peerakit Siributwong/Nick Papac defeated Guillermo Nicol/Guillermo de Vilchez by a score of 5-2 to clinch the doubles draw.
The singles draw began with Webb from the Sooners defeating Gregurovic of WSU 6-2, 6-2. Austin Siegel continued OU's momentum by defeating Nicol 6-1, 6-1. OU's Guillermo Alcorta beat WSU's Illja Cuic by a score of 6-1, 6-2. Papac then won over de Vilchez by a count of 6-3, 6-5.
Ostojic won one of two sets won by the Shockers during his match against Axel Avarez of the Sooners. He won their first set 6-4, but Alvarez won the remaining two sets by scores of 6-4, 6-3 to win the match.
Jocelyn Devilliers won the other set of the day for the Shockers. He defeated Alex Ghilea of Oklahoma by a score of 6-5 in the second-set. However, Ghilea won 6-0 in the first set and 6-3 in the third set to seal the dual match for the Sooners.
The Shockers are next in action on Saturday morning at 10 a.m., as they take on Georgia State during the ITA Kick-Off Weekend at the Marks Stadium in Los Angeles, Calif.
