TULSA, Okla. – WSU's men's tennis team, the No. 61st ranked team in the nation, lost their 2014 spring debut to No. 25 Tulsa in a 4-0 defeat at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center in Tulsa.
During today's doubles, Alejandro Espejo/Japie De Klerk of Tulsa defeated Guillermo Nicol/Guillermo de Vilchez of WSU by a score of 6-1. Carlos Bautista/Daniel Santos of Tulsa then defeated Illja Cuic/Jocelyn Devilliers of WSU by a score of 6-1 to clinch the doubles point.
In singles competition, Espejo defeated Tomislav Gregurovic of WSU 6-1, 6-1 while Japie De Klerk defated Illja Cuic 6-0, 6-1 to give the Hurricane a 3-0 lead. Tulsa would then clinch the match by Dylan McCloskey defeating de Vilchez 6-4, 6-5 (10-4).
The Shocks are back on the road Tuesday evening when they compete against Oklahoma at 5:00 p.m. at the Headington Family Tennis Center in Norman, Okla. Results from the match will be posted on GoShockers.com following the completion of play.
