Box Score KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - The Wichita State volleyball team earned a 3-0 sweep of host Tennessee in the Comcast Lady Vol Classic. The Shockers (7-1) won by scores of 25-16, 25-12, and 25-13.
Katie Reilly and Ashlyn Driskill both had nine kills, while Chelsey Feekin had 34 assists and Gaby Urban contributed 19 digs.
With Reilly serving, the Shockers rattled off six straight points to take an 8-1 lead early in the first set. After a kill by Reilly, a Sam Sanders block sealed the first set for Wichita State, 25-16.
The Shockers jumped out to another big lead early in the second set when a service ace by Dani Mostrom to put Wichita State up 7-1, and Jordan Hinkle had one of her three services aces on the night to make the score 17-7 later in the set. A kill by Chelsey Feekin won the set for the Shockers 25-12.
With the score tied at four in the third set, Driskill's kill put the Shockers up 5-4 and they never trailed the rest of the way. Wichita State scored the last eight points of the set to win 25-13 and capture the match.
The Shockers will continue play in the Comcast Lady Vol Classic when they take on VCU on Saturday at 9 a.m.
