WICHITA, Kan. – Wichita State hit four home runs in Thursday night's doubleheader with Oklahoma State but were unable to garner a victory falling by scores of 9-4 and 11-3.
Game 1 – Oklahoma State 9, Wichita State 4
Oklahoma State got game one started with a pair of runs in the top of the first inning beginning with a Tarah Ettinger RBI single and followed by a Tiffany Mikkelson RBI groundout.
Wichita State's Ali Vandever cut the Cowgirl lead in half in the second inning with a solo home run to left field.
OSU scored the games next five runs to take a 6-1 lead highlighted by Amy Graham's two-run home run to left centerfield in the bottom of the third.
Erin Carney hit the Shockers second solo home run of the game in the fourth down the left field line to cut OSU's lead to 6-2.
Laura Vickers added another solo home run for WSU in the bottom of the fifth to narrow the gap to 6-3.
The Cowgirls scored three additional runs in the sixth and seventh inning to put the game away.
Game 2 – Oklahoma State 11, Wichita State 3 (6-innings)
Game two got off to a rocky start for the Shockers who committed five errors in the game's first three innings as Oklahoma State built a 10-0 lead. Shannon Kaufman and Samantha Chrisman each tallied two RBI for OSU.
Abby Furstenberg put WSU on the scoreboard in the bottom of the third with the Shockers fourth solo home run of the doubleheader.
Brianne Bond's single to left field in the bottom of the fourth inning scored Hayley Temple to narrow the deficit to 10-2.
Ali Vandever earned a bases loaded walk in the fifth inning to extend the game another inning before Gessenia DeLaCruz's RBI single in the sixth put OSU up 11-3.
Wichita State went down in order in the sixth to end the game.
Wichita State will conclude its home portion of the season with a three game series with Drake beginning with Saturday's 12 p.m. doubleheader.
