WICHITA, Kan.- The Wichita State women's tennis team maintained their undefeated Missouri Valley Conference record on Saturday afternoon at Sheldon Coleman Tennis Complex, defeating Illinois State 5-2.
The Shocker women took an early advantage when the duos of Rebecca Pedrazzi and Carla Venticinque and Montse Blasco Fernandez and Satjaporn Mahajaroenukl both defeated their opponents 8-1.
Freshman Julia Schiller won her third consecutive singles contest by defeating Phyllis Tigges, 6-3, 6-1 to give Wichita State a 2-0 lead. Junior Carla Venticinque took down Sarah Paulson, 6-3, 6-3, and Satjaporn Mahajaroenkul defeated Stefanie Youngberg, 6-1, 6-1 to clinch the match. Montse Blasco Fernandez also captured a singles victory with a 6-3, 6-4 decision over Kadi Ilves.
The Shockers will play their last home match of the season on Sunday at 9 a.m. against Bradley. Live stats will be available and results will be posted on GoShockers.com following the completion of play.
