WICHITA, Kan.- The Wichita State women's tennis team
defeated the Purple Aces of Evansville, 6-1, on Saturday afternoon at the
Sheldon Coleman Tennis Complex. The win moves the Shocker women to 13-5 overall
and 2-0 in the Missouri Valley Conference.
The Shockers struggled early, losing two out of three
doubles matches to put Evansville up 1-0.
The Shocker women came out fired-up in the singles
competition though, winning all six contests to the put the Purple Aces away. In
the number four position, Veronika Blaskova defeated Mina Milovic, 6-0, 6-2, to
decide the match. Wichita State did not let any match get into a third set as
they captured their second conference win of the season.
Wichita State is back in action on Sunday morning when they
host conference opponent Southern Illinois at 9 a.m. at the Sheldon Coleman
Tennis Complex. The match will also be broadcast over the internet on
