WICHITA, Kan. -
Bradley used a seven-run sixth inning to overtake the Shocker softball team
Sunday afternoon at Wilkins Stadium, 9-5.
Wichita State (14-36, 7-17) started the game hitting on all
cylinders taking a 4-0 lead through the first three innings. Back-to-back third
inning solo home runs from Danika Miller and Sydney Stuever highlighted the
early surge.
The Shockers took a 5-1 lead into the fateful sixth inning
before Bradley rallied to score seven runs on four hits and two Shocker errors.
Madeline Lynch-Crumrine withstood the early Shocker
offensive charge to earn her second victory of the series in the circle and led
the Braves at the plate going 3-for-5 with two runs and two RBI's including a
home run.
The seven-run sixth inning proved to be too much for the
young Shockers to overcome as they failed to muster a comeback in their final
two at-bats.
Wichita State holds a half game lead over Indiana State for
the final spot in the MVC tournament with three conference games remaining for
each team. Wichita State will play a Wednesday doubleheader at UMKC before
heading on to Des Moines, Iowa to take on Drake. Indiana State will play a three-game
series with 10th place Evansville.
