OMAHA, Neb.- The Wichita State men's tennis team defeated
Bradley, 4-0, in the semifinals of the MVC Tournament on Saturday at the Koch
Family Tennis Center.
The Shocks took the first two doubles contests as David
Cavalcanti and Matheus Pereira defeated Justin Abrams and Juan Diego Cuadrado, 8-2,
and Guillermo Nicol and Tomislav Gregurovic defeated Ahmed Albitar and Hamish
Weerasinghe, 8-3, to give the Shockers a 1-0 lead.
The minimum number of singles matches was needed as the
Shockers won the first three contests to take the match. In the number one
position, Matheus Pereira defeated Ahmed Albitar, 6-4, 7-6 (7-4), to clinch the
match for Wichita State.
The win moves the Shockers into the MVC Finals against Drake
on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. The Bulldogs defeated the Shockers in a close, 4-3 match
on the last day of the regular season.
