OMAHA, Neb.- The Wichita State men's tennis team defeated
Creighton, 7-0, today at the Koch Family Tennis Center. The win moved the
Shockers to 15-4 overall and 4-0 in the Missouri Valley Conference. Creighton
fell to 9-9 and 0-5 in the MVC.
The Shockers took an early lead by taking two out of three
doubles contests. Matheus Pereira and David Cavalcanti defeated Billy Paluch
and Kyle Obermeier, 8-4, and Guillermo Nicol and Tomislav Gregurovic took down
Ryan Norman and Sean Mathison, 8-1, to put Wichita State up, 1-0 for the match.
The success continued in the singles play for the Shockers.
In the number four position, Guillermo Nicol was able to win his thirteenth
straight match, defeating Sean Mathison, 6-0, 6-1.
The Shockers are back in action Saturday in Des
Moines, Iowa for a match against Drake to decide the regular season MVC Championship and the top two seeds in the MVC
tournament. First serve is set for 11 a.m.
