WICHITA, Kan.- The No. 62 Wichita State men's tennis team
did not lose a single match, defeating UMKC, 7-0, Wednesday afternoon at
Genesis Health Club.
The Shockers took an early 1-0 lead by taking down the Roo's
in all three doubles contests. The No. 46 combination of Matheus Pereira and
David Cavalcanti continued their successful season, defeating Cameron
Schoenhofer and Grant Fleming, 8-2.
The success continued in the singles competition. The
Shocker men took every match, only allowing one to go to three sets. Sophomore
Juan Estenssoro defeated Abdulrahman Alawadhi, 6-0, 6-3, and Guillermo
Nicol defeated Cameron Schoenhofer, 6-3, 6-1, to help put away the Roo's.
The Shocker men continue play on
Saturday, March 10 when they are set to take on Cowley County at 10 a.m. and
Bethany at 2 p.m. Both matches are to be played at the Sheldon Coleman Tennis
Complex.
