FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.- The No. 69 Wichita State men's tennis
fell to No. 43 Arkansas, 5-2, on Friday afternoon at the Billingsley Tennis
Center.
The Shockers went down a point early, dropping the doubles
point to the Razorbacks. The two teams would split the first two matches, but
then Hall Fess and Matt Walters were able to take down No. 72 David Cavalcanti
and Matheus Pereira, 9-8 (9-7).
Arkansas would take the first two matches in the singles
competition to go up 3-0, before Matheus Pereira was able to give the Shockers
a point by defeating Gregoire Lehmann, 6-4, 6-3. The only other the point
Wichita State would get in the match was when Guillermo Nicol defeated Manfred
Jeske in a highly contested match, 7-6 (10-8), 7-6 (10-8).
The Shockers will look to bounce back on Saturday when they
take on No. 65 Southern Mississippi at the Billingsley Tennis Center. The match
is set to start at 1 p.m.
