FORT WORTH, Texas- The Shocker men's tennis team was defeated by
TCU, 6-1, on Saturday afternoon at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.
In the doubles competition, No. 31 David Cavalcanti and Matheus
Pereira continued their impressive doubles season by defeating Nick Chappell
and JT Sundling, 8-5. The win makes Cavalcanti and Pereira 4-2 on the season in
doubles after going 2-0 for the weekend. The win was not enough though, as the
Shockers dropped the next two matches to give the doubles point to TCU.
The Horned Frogs continued to be a tough test for the Shockers in
singles. TCU took five out of six matches. Cavalcanti was able to gain the lone
point for his team when he defeated JT Sundling, 7-6 (3), 3-6, 6-1.
Although not happy with the loss to TCU, Head
Coach Brad Louderback feels his team made significant strides in the right
direction. "We certainly are not pleased with the loss to TCU, but we had
a solid effort both mentally and physically and gained a lot from this past
weekend," said Louderback.
The Shocker men continue their fall season next weekend on
Saturday, February 25th at Genesis Health Club. They will take on
Newman at 10 a.m. and Oral Roberts at 2 p.m.
