TULSA, Okla.- Wichita State was handed their second loss of the season against No. 23 Tulsa, 6-1, on Friday night at the Case Tennis Center.

The Hurricanes of Tulsa captured the doubles point by winning all three contests. Tulsa won the first match when Lucian Gheorghe and Alejandro Sanchez defeated Wichita State's Juan Estenssoro and Nestor Perez, 8-3. Then No. 37 Grant Ive and Tristan Jackson of Tulsa downed WSU's freshman tandem, Erick Reyes and Tomislav Gregurovic, in the second match, 8-5. The final doubles contest was a battle between two highly ranked pairs. In the end, Tulsa's No. 3 Ashley Watling and Clifford Marsland took down No. 20 David Cavalcanti and Matheus Pereira, 8-5.

Wichita State dropped the first two matches in the singles competition, but No. 66 Matheus Pereira would give the Shockers their only point in the third contest when he took down Japie De Klerk, 6-4, 6-1. WSU would lose the final three matches of the night when Alejandro Sanchez defeated Nestor Perez, 6-2, 6-4, No. 88 Grant Ive defeated Tomislav Gregurovic 6-4, 7-6 (7-4), and Lucian Gheorghe defeated Juan Estenssoro in a fantastic three-set match, 6-3, 6-7 (4-7), 1-0 (10-7).

Wichita State continues play next weekend when they travel to the University of Texas Arlington on Friday, February 17. The match is scheduled to start at 2 p.m.
