STILLWATER, Okla. - The Oklahoma State Cowgirls defeated the Wichita State Shockers, 4-3, in a tightly contested match played outdoors at the DeBois Tennis Complex in Stillwater on Saturday afternoon.

Oklahoma State (3-0) took an early lead in the match after they won two matches in doubles. Isabela Miro and CC Sardinha knocked off Montse Blasco Fernandez and Delia Damaschin, 8-0 and Meghan Blevins and Mary Jeremiah defeated Lutfiana Budiharto and Carla Venticinque, 8-2, to capture the doubles point for the Cowgirls.

The Cowgirls carried the momentum to singles as Jeremiah defeated Venticnique, 7-5, 6-0 and Rose defeated Damaschin, 6-2, 6-4. Down 3-0, Wichita State (3-1) didn't quit as they came back to win the No. 1 and No. 5 matches and cut the deficit to 3-2.

Blaskova battled in the No. 3 match against Blevins but came up just short as the sophomore fell 7-5, 7-5. The win clinched the match for the Cowgirls and gave the Shocks its first loss of the season.

"It was a hard fought match today," WSU head coach Colin Foster said. "We didn't play our best doubles but we came out and gave ourselves leads in five of six first sets. Unfortunately we weren't able to close out a few of those sets and OUS did well to turn those matches around and beat us in a good match that could have gone either way."

Sophomore Satjaporn Mahajaroenkul continues to play well in her first season as a Shock as the Mahachai, Thailand native won the No. 6 match against Isabela Miro, 6-1, 4-6, 10-5.

WSU will have a lengthy break until its next match when they host the Missouri Tigers on Saturday, Feb. 11. First serve is set for 4 p.m. at the Wichita Country Club.
