Evansville, Ind. - The Wichita State University women's basketball team withstood a late run by Evansville to stay unbeaten in the Missouri Valley Conference with a 57-51 victory over the Purple Aces at the Ford Center.  Jessica Diamond delivered 16 points for WSU to lead all scorers.

The Shockers led 41-31 after a Krystle Henderson three-pointer with 10:26 left in the game.  Evansville responded with five straight points and eventually tied the game at 47 when Samantha Heck capped a three-point play with a free throw at the 2:55 mark.

Diamond stepped back to knock down a long jumper moments later and sealed the win with a steal and breakaway layup in the final minute.

The junior went 6-for-12 from the field and nailed all four free throw attempts.  She also tied for the team lead with seven rebounds and forced four steals.  Chynna Turner added 12 points and five rebounds.  Briyana Blair topped the Purple Aces with 14 points.

The win was the ninth in a row for the Shockers.  They can tie the school record with a victory Saturday at Southern Illinois.  Wichita State remained the only undefeated team in MVC play at 6-0 and moved to 12-5 overall.
