WICHITA, Kan.- The Shockers opened home play this afternoon beating
the Lady Demons of Northwestern State, 77-49. This is the second all-time meeting between the two teams
and the first time they have faced each other since 1997.
Junior Jessica Diamond led the Shockers in points with 17
off the bench. Senior Haleigh
Lankster was in double digits as well with 10 points. Jazimen Gordon led the Shockers with 7 rebounds.
The Shockers held onto the lead for the entire game, ending
the first half with a 21-point lead, 40-19. Junior Trudy Armstead played an important offensive role for
the Lady Demons in the first half with 8 points.
Coming out of the half, the Shockers shot a 76.2 percent
field-goal average compared to the Lady Demon's 36.7 percent. Back to back lay-ups by Nicole Wells
and Kelsey Jacobs gave the Shockers their biggest lead of the game, 72-39, with
3:30 left to play.
Jordi James led the Lady Demons in points with 16, and
Armstead followed with a total of 12.
The Shockers will play host to LSU on Monday Nov. 14 at
Charles Koch Arena with tip-off scheduled at 7:05 p.m. Coach Jody Adams invites everyone to attend
the “Color Me Pink” Luncheon that will take place at 11:30 a.m. at Charles Koch
Arena before the game that night.
