Box Score STILLWATER, Okla. - Wichita State defeated Oklahoma State in a rain shortened game 9-6. The game was called after a 1:02 rain delay.
The Shockers jumped on the board in the first inning. With two outs, Preston Springer walked and
Cody Lassley was hit by a pitch. Bret
Bascue doubled to left field to drive them both in for a 2-0 lead.
OSU used four singles in the third inning to tie the score
at two.
WSU led off the fifth with six-straight hits. Tyler Grimes, Springer, and Lassley all
singled and Bascue, Ryan Jones and Chris O'Brien all doubled to put the Shocks
in front 7-2.
A two-run home run by Springer in the sixth increased the lead
to 9-2, but OSU had a big seventh inning.
Mark Ginther homered to left field to cut the lead to 9-4 and then a
two-run single after a Shocker error pulled the Cowboys to within 9-6.
With runners at first and third and no outs in the top of
the eighth inning, the game was halted due to a severe storm and eventually called.
The Shockers are next in action on Wed., April 7 against
Rogers State at Eck Stadium. First pitch
is scheduled for 7 p.m.
