LUBBOCK, Tex. -- Texas Tech moved to 18-2 on the season following an 8-0 win over the Wichita State University softball team Sunday afternoon at Rocky Johnson Field during the last day of competition at the Texas Tech Tournament.

The loss drops to the Shockers to an even 8-8 on the year.

Ashly Jacobs picked up her sixth win of the season, holding WSU to five hits through five innings, walking one and striking out two.

Wichita State starter Katie Armagost was the victim of a couple of misplays that ended up giving the Red Raider's a commanding 7-0 lead after the first inning.

Texas Tech added one more run in the bottom of the second inning to ice the win in five.

Kiersten Dixon had two hits in three trips to the plate for Wichita State while Hayley Temple was 1-for-2 and made several defensive saves at second base, making the last two outs of the third inning to prevent further damage.

Logan Hall went 3-for-3 with two runs scored while Mikey Kenney was 2-for-3 with a run scored and two RBI for Texas Tech.

Wichita State will stay on the road for their next contest as the Shockers travel to Kansas City, Mo., to take on the University of Missouri at Kansas City on Wednesday, Mar. 10, for a non-conference double header.
