Taylor Named Volunteer Assistant Coach

WICHITA, Kan. -- Wichita State Director of Tennis Chris Young announced men's tennis volunteer assistant coach Nick Taylor as the newest addition to the Shocker tennis coaching staff on Monday afternoon.

Taylor served as the men's tennis program administrative assistant for five years before accepting the new role.

“We're excited for our program that Nick is going to be the volunteer assistant,” head men's tennis coach Brad Louderback said. “He's going to be a great influence on our players. They respect him and with his remarkable accomplishments, he's an inspiration to our
players.”

Taylor is coming off of his second-consecutive Paralympic wheelchair tennis doubles gold medal after earning top honors at the Athens and Bejing Paralympic Games, respectively.

“I've been playing tennis for 15 years, but because of my disability, I've never beaten anyone with brute strength,” Taylor said. “I beat people by thinking and seeing things that other players have never thought about. I think about the little things, and those little things add up. That's what I want to share with them.”

A Wichita native, Taylor started his career with the team in 2004 as an intern. He earned his masters degree in sport administration at WSU in  2007.
