Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 WATERLOO, Iowa -- The Wichita State baseball team (22-20, 7-5 MVC) snapped an eight-game losing streak by taking two games from UNI (15-24, 3-14) Saturday afternoon at Riverfront Stadium.

Game One: Shockers 10, UNI 7 (suspended from Friday night)
The Shocks finished up a suspended game from last night, winning 10-7, before taking down the Panthers, 5-0, in the reguarly scheduled game for the day.

WSU took a 7-5 lead into the top of the sixth of the first game of the series, suspended from last night due to rain.

Brett Bascue led the day off with a walk and came around to score on an UNI error that extended WSU's lead to 8-5.

The Panthers responded with two runs in the bottom of the frame thanks to a two-RBI single from Travis Bennett that cut WSU's lead to 8-7.

Cody Lassley's one-out double in the eighth gave the Shockers some insurance, scoring Bascue and Taylor Brown to fashion the final score, 10-7. UNI stranded a runner in both the eighth and ninth, but could never string together a rally against reliever Chance Sossamon, who worked the final two innings to pick up his second save.

Remington Johnson (2-0) started the day for the Shockers on the mound after throwing to one batter last night, and picked up the win with 2.1 innings of action in all, giving up two runs on three hits before turning the ball over to Sossamon to close it out.

Taylor Brown went 4-for-4 in the contest, while driving in two. Lassley finished 2-for-2 with two RBI to help lead the Shockers' offense.

Game Two: Shockers 6, UNI 3

WSU got on the board first in game two, scoring a pair on Will Baez' double down the left line after Cody Lassley roped a one-out double and Ryan Jones walked, giving the Shockers an early 2-0 lead.

A pair of walks in the fourth came back to haunt the Panthers, as Tyler Grimes tripled off the right field wall, plating Lassley and Brown to extend WSU's lead to 4-0 after four.

Ryan Engrav's RBI single in the fifth brought home Baez, who led the inning off with a walk, stretching the Shockers' edge to 5-0.

That score stood until UNI scored its first runs in the eighth, the second of which chased Shocker starter Jordan Cooper (6-4) who was masterful to that point. Cooper finished his afternoon having worked 7.2 innings, giving up three runs while walking one and striking out five.

Justin Kemp got the Shockers out of the jam in the eighth with no more damage done, getting a ground out to keep WSU's lead safe.

WSU put runners on the corners to start the ninth but Andrew Letourneau was picked off first after reaching on a fielder's choice. It didn't matter for Chris O'Brien, as he drove in Baez with a two-out RBI single to give the Shockers some more insurance, 6-3.

UNI brought the tying run to the plate in the ninth, but Kemp got a ground out to give the Shockers the win, allowing the Shocker reliever to pick up the save, his second of the season.
