Shocks Finish Eighth At Oak Hills Invitational

SAN ANTONIO, Texas -The Wichita State men's golf team opened its spring season by finishing eighth at the Oak Hills Invitational, hosted by the University of Texas at San Antonio. 

After tying a career low round in the opening round of the tournament, senior Ty Sanders carded a six-over par third round score of 77, and finished tied for ninth with a 213. Junior Dustin Garza was four strokes back, carding a 54-hole score of 217, and finishing tied for 19th.

Zac Potter's three-round score of 223 found him tied for 38th, while Brad Boan and Connor McHenry rounded out the Shocker scorecard, posting identical tournament scores of 228, and finishing tied for 55th. 

Competing as an individual, Grady Pauls posted a nine-over par score of 222, and finished tied for 34th. 

As a team, Wichita State finished in eighth place with a 36-hole team score of 877. The Shocks finished two strokes behind Stephen F. Austin, and 10-strokes up on Sam Houston State. Texas Tech won the tournament with a tournament score of 824.

The Shockers are back in action next week when they travel to Florida for the annual Rio Pinar Invitational, hosted by the University of Central Florida.
