PEORIA, Ill. -- One day removed from its first conference loss in nearly two years, the Wichita State women's tennis team throttled the Bradley Braves, 7-0, Saturday afternoon in Peoria, Ill.
Stephanie Dalmacio led things off for the Shockers with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Bradley's Emily Regenold to win the No. 1 match. Florentina Hanisch followed with a 6-0, 6-2 dispatching of Bradley foe Kelly Donohue in the No 2. match, while Anna Egorova made quick work of Jessica Buterbaugh in the No. 3 match, 6-0, 6-1.
In the most competitve match of the day, Lenore Lazaroiu defeated Bradley's Nicole Miller, 7-6, 6-2 in the No. 4 match. Lazaroiu's win was followed by Torrie Browning's 6-1, 6-0 win over Brave opponent Erin Krubeck in the No. 5 match, while Laryssa Ferreira concluded singles play with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Bradley's Kim Braun.
The Shockers cruised through doubles play on their way to a three-match doubles sweep. Dalmacio and Ferreira defeated Buterbaugh and Donohue, 8-3, in the No. 1 match, while Egorova and Lazaroiu won the most competitive doubles match of the day, 8-6, over Miller and Regenold in the No. 2 match. Browning and Hanisch completed the Shocker sweep with an 8-3 win over Bradley's Braun and Krubeck.
With the win, the Shockers improve to 10-7 on the season, and 3-1 in the Missouri Valley Conference. They will return to action Friday with a 1 p.m. match against Creighton in Omaha, Neb.
