NEW ORLEANS - Kellyn Johnson was named to the U.S. Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association all-region team for the Midwest Region.
Johnson placed 10th at the NCAA Midwest Region championships with a 6K time of 20:29 to earn the all-region accolades. All-region honors are earned by the top 25 finishers in each of the nine regional races in the NCAA.
Johnson led the Shocker women in every race this season, including the MVC Championships. At the conference meet, Johnson beat the field by 21 seconds to win the Valley individual title and help the Shockers to their third-straight conference championship.
She also took individual honors at the J.K. Gold Classic and the Bradley Classic, but her 10th-place finish at the regional left her just short of gaining a berth to the NCAA Championships.
Johnson will be competing for the Shocker women's track and field team and will help lead the team on a quest for a ninth-straight MVC track and field and cross country championship during the indoor season.
