Wichita State women’s tennis head coach Jacob Eddins announced the addition of Michaela Kissell-Eddins to his staff as an assistant coach Monday, Dec. 22, 2025.
Kissell-Eddins was most recently a volunteer assistant at West Virginia University under head coach Miha Lisac in 2022-23, helping the Mountaineers to an 11-win season. In addition, she served as a junior tennis coach, privately coaching Lyla Byers who has risen more the 400 spots in recruiting rankings and earned a tennis scholarship to West Virginia.
Prior to her time in Morgantown, Kissell-Eddins served as head coach at Western Carolina from 2013 to 2018. In her five seasons leading the Catamounts, she produced a remarkable turnaround, setting a program record with 12 wins in a single season in 2016. It also marked the program’s first winning season since 1997.
Kissell-Eddins also had coaching stops at Pittsburgh as both assistant coach and interim head coach in 2012-13 and began her career as an assistant at Cornell in 2011-12.
As a player, Kissell-Eddins was one of the nation’s top competitors from 2007-11, competing two years at Miami (Florida) and two at Marshall. She finished her playing career at Marshall with a combined singles and doubles record of 110-41, reaching rankings as high as No. 27 in singles and No. 15 in doubles. She went a perfect 19-0 in doubles her senior year and helped guide the Thundering Herd to the highest team ranking in program history at No. 28.
Kissell-Eddins graduated from Marshall in 2011 with a degree in business finance and a minor in management.
She is married to Shocker head coach Jacob Eddins and is the sister of assistant coach Chad Kissell.
