Denning Gerig is in his fourth year at Wichita State and second as Associate Director of Communications and Director of Broadcasting. He assists with the maintenance of the official Wichita State Athletics website, GoShockers.com, as well as serving as the primary sports information director for baseball and bowling.

A Wichita State alum, Gerig served as a student manager for the Wichita State baseball team from 2014-2016. He also spent time as play-by-play and color commentator on Wichita State baseball, volleyball, and women's basketball broadcasts from 2015 through the end of 2018, primarily via WSUTV and The Valley on ESPN3.

In 2019, Gerig took over as the Broadcast and Media Relations Manager for the Cleburne Railroaders, an independent professional baseball team in Cleburne, Texas. While with the Railroaders, Gerig broadcasted all 100 games during the 2019 and 2021 seasons and operated the team's website and social media platforms. He was selected as the American Association's Co-Broadcaster of the Year following the 2021 season, and the Railroaders were named the league's Social Media Team of the Year that same season.

Gerig also broadcasted three seasons of volleyball and baseball for the Zebra Sports Network, a media company covering Grandview High School athletics in Grandview, Texas.

A native of Wichita, Gerig earned his Bachelor of Arts in Journalism in 2016. During his undergrad, he spent two seasons as the Broadcast and Media Relations manager for the Derby Twins, a local collegiate summer baseball team. Following graduation, Gerig was hired as the Broadcast and Media Relations Manager for the Wichita Wingnuts, a now-defunct independent professional baseball team. While with the Wingnuts in 2017 and 2018, Gerig coordinated several major announcements in conjunction with team and city officials, including the announcement of the final season of historic Lawrence-Dumont Stadium.

Gerig resides in Wichita and shamelessly supports his beloved Wolverhampton Wanderers soccer club.
