Sam Sanders is beginning her first season as the graduate assistant for the Shocker volleyball program.

Sanders played for the Shockers from 2009-13. In 2013, she earned first team all-Valley honors and was also named Valley Player of the Week. She was named to the all-tournament team at the Valley Tournament and also at the Portland NIKE Invitational. In 2012, she was named MVP of the SMU Doubletree Classic.

She finished her career with 788 kills, a .224 hitting percentage, 31 service aces, 265 digs, 20 solo blocks and 208 block assists.

Sam, a native of Rhome, Texas, earned a bachelor’s degree from Wichita State in sociology in December 2013 and is currently working on a master’s degree in sport management.
