Uyen Tran was named an assistant coach and director of operations for Wichita State women's basketball in June of 2025 after spending two seasons as the Shockers' video coordinator.
Tran comes to Wichita State after a year at Morehead State as an assistant coach for the women's basketball program. Prior to Morehead State, she had two-year stint as head coach and one season as an assistant coach at Graceland (Iowa).
Tran also served one year as an assistant coach for the women's basketball program at SUNY (N.Y.) Sullivan Community College, where she helped lead the team to a 14-11 record in their first year of their transition to NJCAA DII.Â
During her stint at SUNY Sullivan, the team won the 2018-19 Mid-Hudson Conference Championship and 2018-19 Region XV Championship, and advanced to the District N&O Semifinals.
Tran earned her Master's of Education in Athletic Administration from Central Methodist (Mo.) in 2018. She was a graduate assistant in the athletic department and also served as a volunteer assistant coach for the reserve women's basketball program at Central Methodist from 2016-18, where she helped guide them to a 21-11 record, in two seasons.
She earned her Bachelor's in Business Management and Sports Administration from William Penn (Iowa) in 2016.Â
