Steph Wright

Steph Wright was promoted to Assistant Director of Communications in June of 2023 after spending two years as a graduate assistant for Wichita State.

Wright serves as the primary contact for the Shocker women's basketball, track and field and cross country teams, handling all communications, running all social media platforms and creating content for her teams.

From 2021-23, she was primary contact for the Wichita State cross country, track and field and men's tennis teams while earning her master's degree in sport management.

Prior to Wichita State, she pole vaulted for the Utah State track and field team for three seasons, while simultaneously interning with the Aggies' athletic media relations department. She ranks seventh all-time in USU history in the indoor pole vault.

Growing up, Wright competed in gymnastics for 13 years, qualifying to the Level 9 Western National Championships three times and the Level 10 Junior Olympic National Championships once. She began pole vaulting her senior year of high school and went on to compete for Spokane CC, where she set both the indoor and outdoor pole vault records and continues to hold the outdoor record.

Wright, a native of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, earned an associate’s degree from Spokane Falls CC in 2017, a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Utah State in 2020 and a master's degree in sport management from Wichita State in 2023. Outside of work, she enjoys reading and working out.
