Tyler Kopatich is in his second year as a graduate assistant for the women’s basketball team at Wichita State.
He is responsible for practice and game video editing, graphic design for social media on the Shockers’ women’s basketball Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, in addition to additional managerial duties.
The Olathe, Kan., native was born Feb. 10, 1992 in Albuquerque, N.M., and graduated in 2010 from Olathe South before attending Ottawa University on a golf scholarship. As a sophomore, he finished runner-up at the conference golf tournament.
After two seasons on the golf team, he decided to work as a student assistant for the Ottawa women’s basketball team until his graduation in 2014 in Physical Education.
Tyler, and his wife, Sawyer, reside in Wichita. He is the son of Joe and Lisa Kopatich. He aspires to continue his career in basketball after earning a master’s degree at WSU.
His brother, Alec, is a senior at the University of Kansas and works in the equipment room while his sister, Kylee, plays women’s basketball at KU.
