Biography


2020-21 (Senior):
Lightning-quick point guard and former McDonalds All-American thrived in Wichita after four injury-plagued years at UConn… Earned third team all-conference honors and helped the Shockers win their first American Athletic Conference regular season title and earn an at-large berth in the NCAA tournament… Played in all 22 games with 20 starts and averaged 10.3 points and 3.1 rebounds in 29.8 minutes… Ranked among the league leaders in assists (6th, 4.1), steals (3rd, 1.6) and assist-to-turnover ratio (7th, 1.9)… In conference games, ranked second on the conference leaderboard in assists (4.8)… Scored in double-figures 12 times and paced the team in assists on 14 occasions… Shot 34.8 percent from the field and 28.9 percent from three (.289)... Transferred to WSU in the spring of 2020 over interest from Florida, Texas Tech, Arkansas, Georgia, Cincinnati and others.
 
Notable Performances: 
  • Made his postseason debut in the NCAA First Four against Drake (Mar. 18) and contributed 10 points, four assists and three steals.
  • Scored in double-figures in both conference tournament outings, finishing with 12 points in a quarterfinal win over USF (Mar. 12) and a team-high 14 points with five assists in the semifinal against Cincinnati (Mar. 13).
  • Collected 12 assists (most by a Shocker in 30 years and most ever in a true road game) in a win at Tulane (Mar. 3) and recorded his 300th career assists in the closing minutes.
  • Made the AAC Honor Roll after scoring 17 points, including five in the last 33 seconds, to key a 61-60 win at UCF.
  • Hit 9-of-10 free throws (both matching career-highs) for 17 points in a win over Tulane (Feb. 3).
  • Recorded his 100th career steal in an overtime win over UCF (Jan. 30) finishing with 12 points, seven assists and four steals... Season-high eight assists in a win over Tulsa (Jan. 13).
  • Scored 14 points, including a pair of crucial free throws in the final seconds of a win at Ole Miss (Jan. 4).
  • Recorded one the year’s most memorable assists against Emporia State (Dec. 18) on the last of his four steals, flipping a bounce pass off the backboard to a trailing Ricky Council IV for a fast break slam.
  • In the conference opener, shared the team lead with 13 points and handed out four assists in 32 turnover free minutes to key a win at Tulsa (Dec. 15).
  • Scored 14 points against Oklahoma State (Dec. 12)... 13 points, five rebounds and six assists against Mizzou (Dec. 6).
  • Scored 18 points in his Shocker debut against Oral Roberts (Dec. 2).

Career Summary At UConn (2016-20):
Played a prominent role for the Huskies in each of his last two seasons after missing most of the 2016-17 and 2017-18 seasons to shoulder injuries… Appeared in 64 career games for UConn, averaging 10.3 points, 2.9 rebounds and 3.5 assists in 28.2 minutes… Averaged 8.5 points as a redshirt junior in 2019-20 and ranked fifth on the AAC leaderboard in both assists (3.8) and assist-to-turnover ratio (1.6)… Appeared in 25 games in 2018-19 and put up 12.6 points and a team-high 3.6 assists to go with 1.3 steals.
 
2019-20 (Junior at UConn):
Appeared in 30 of the Huskies’ 31 games with 20 starts after totaling just 34 games in the three previous years… Averaged 8.5 points and 1.1 steals in 27.3 minutes-per-game… Ranked fifth on the AAC leaderboard in both assists (3.8) and assist-to-turnover ratio (1.6)…  Connected on 34 threes with 31.8 percent accuracy but finished strong, hitting 19-of-52 (.365) in league play (eighth-best among AAC regulars)… Scored in double-figures 12 times with a pair of 20-point games on Nov. 13 against St. Joseph’s (22) and Dec. 22 against New Hampshire (21)…  Recorded a double-double with 12 points and a season-high 10 assists against Iona on Dec. 4… Scored 14 points in a double-overtime game against Wichita State on Jan. 12 and set career-highs for minutes (45), rebounds (6) and blocks (2)… Posted 10 points and four assists to help the Huskies to a three-point win over Florida (Nov. 17)… 14 points, six rebounds and five assists against Xavier (Nov. 22)… 12 points and five assists at Villanova (Jan. 18)… Had 17 points on 6-of-9 shooting (3-for-3 from deep) in a 72-56 win at Tulsa.
 
2018-19 (Sophomore at UConn):
Appeared in 25 games, starting 23, averaging 12.6 points, 2.9 rebounds, and team-leading 3.6 assists ... Had 20 double-figure scoring games, including a career-high 24 against Florida State... Led the team in scoring five times and led in assists 12 times... Named to AAC Weekly Honor Roll on Dec. 10 after career-high 11 assists vs. Lafayette... In his lone Charles Koch Arena appearance (Feb. 28), tied his career-high with four three-pointers, including back-to-back treys in the final minute to tie the game… Missed five games Jan. 31-Feb. 14 with shoulder injury, and missed last three games of season after suffering concussion and eye injury vs. Temple on March 7.
 
2017-18 (Redshirt Freshman at UConn):
Started the first six games of the season, averaging 9.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game... In second game of the PK80 Invitational, suffered a hard blow to his left shoulder against Michigan State, reinjuring it. Struggled through 17 minutes of following game against Arkansas before sitting out. After further examination by medical experts, surgery was determined as the best course of treatment.
 
2016-17 (Freshman at UConn):
Scored 14 points off the bench in the season opener against Wagner and jumped into the starting lineup against Northeastern and Loyola Marymount... With 51 seconds remaining in the first half vs. LMU, after already scoring 10 points, was involved in a collision while diving for a loose ball and suffered a torn labrum in his left shoulder that required season-ending surgery... Averaged 10.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, 2.0 assists and had an overall field goal percentage of .500 in the three games in which he appeared.
 
High School:
McDonald’s All-American, consensus top-30 recruit and Georgia’s 2016 Gatorade Player of the Year… As a senior at Miller Grove High School (Lithonia, Ga.), averaged 20.1 points, 5.7 assists, 5.5 rebounds and 4.3 steals… Led his team to a 31-3 record, a Class 5A state championship and a semifinal appearance at the Dick’s Sporting Goods High School Nationals where they suffered a one-point loss to Oak Hill Academy… Won three state titles at Miller Grove under Coach Sharman White… Played for the winning Boys West Team in 2016 McDonald’s All-American Game, scoring seven points to go with five rebounds and four assists… Also appeared in the Jordan Brand Classic game, where he produced three steals and five assists in the first 10 minutes before dislocating his left shoulder midway through the first half… Had surgery to repair the damage and spent the summer of 2016 rehabbing the shoulder... Played AAU ball for Team CP3 in North Carolina… Named to the President’s List for academic achievement at Miller Grove High School.
