Joe Carter (1979-81)

Joe Carter, who played at Wichita State from 1979 to 1981, was named National Player of the Year by the Sporting News in 1981. A two-time first-team All-American, he was twice named MVP of the Missouri Valley Conference and three times named to the All-MVC team. In 2007, he was the top vote-getter when the MVC chose its All-Centennial baseball team.

Darren Dreifort (1991-93)

Darren Dreifort led Wichita State to consecutive College World Series appearances from 1991 to 1993, including appearances in both the 1991 and 1993 final games. The winner of the Golden Spikes and Smith Awards in 1993, he was a two-time first-team All-American and All-MVC performer. He was the 1993 MVC Pitcher of the Year and in 2007 he was named to the MVC All-Centennial team as both a designated hitter and relief pitcher.

Don Heinkel (1979-82)

Don Heinkel, a pitcher at Wichita State from 1979 to 1982, is the winningest pitcher in NCAA Division I history with 51 victories.  As a freshman, he threw a seven-inning no-hitter against Illinois.  He recorded eight career shutouts and 354 strikeouts with a 2.62 ERA in 467 innings.

Gene Stephenson (1978-2013)

Gene Stephenson finished his career with more Division I wins than any other coach. In building the Wichita State program, Stephenson went 1,768-671-3 in 36 seasons. He took teams to 27 regionals, seven College World Series and won a national title in 1989. He stands as the third-winningest coach at any level, behind College Baseball Hall of Famer Gordie Gillespie and Augie Garrido. He joins his brother, Phil, who was inducted in 2007, and four of his former players in the Hall of Fame.
