Biography

Junior (2006-07): Phillip Thomasson was named Valley Newcomer of the Week Dec. 4 when he averaged 11.5 points on 73.3 percent shooting (11-15), and 9.0 rebounds in WSU’s two wins against UMKC and at Syracuse...Against Syracuse, he had 11 points and eight rebounds while hitting 5-of-6 field goals...He scored in double-figures seven times, shot better than 60 percent 15 times, and was perfect five times including a four-of-four effort at Wyoming...Had a career-high 10 rebounds against UMKC.

 

At WSU (2005-06): Transferred from Colorado State University and sat out per NCAA rules, but practiced with the Shockers.

 

At Colorado State 2004-05 (Sophomore): Tied a career-high with three assists versus New Mexico...Posted a career-best nine rebounds to lead CSU against Regis in the season-opener...Started the first eight games.

 

2003-04 (Freshman): Had one of top nights of his season with eight points and three rebounds at Air Force...Scored seven points, had four rebounds in 18 minutes in loss at New Mexico ...Scored six points, had three rebounds in win over Wyoming while playing 20 minutes...Scored seven points in win over Pepperdine...Had top night of his career by scoring 10 points and grabbing two rebounds in win over Gardner-Webb...Posted a career-best three assists in game against Oklahoma State...Scored 10 points and had four rebounds, two assists, one blocked shot  in opening-game win over BYU-Hawaii.

 

At Burleson HS: Participated in 2003 Global Games as member of U.S. Select Team which earned a Silver medal...the competition featured men’s junior national teams (ages 21 and younger) from the United States, Brazil, Yugoslavia, Canada, Puerto Rico, Lithuania, Ukraine, and teams from the continent of Africa and the Scandinavian region...regarded as one of the top prep players in the nation...also recruited by Tennessee, Oklahoma, Kentucky, and North Carolina...ranked the fourth best player in the state of Texas by TEXAS BASKETBALL REVIEW...listed 10th top prospect in the Southeast region by Ron Briscoe report...led team to 19-12 record in 2003...averaged 24 points and 12 rebounds per game as a senior...ranked among state leaders in scoring, rebounding, blocked shots, field goal and free throw percentage in 2003...averaged more than 20 points per game as a junior and sophomore...named the conference’s top freshman and sophomore player during those respective seasons...two-time district offensive MVP as a junior and senior...named district defensive MVP as a sophomore...two-time second-team all-state pick as a junior and senior...named to all-region team twice, in 2002 and ?03...prep coach was Gerald Parr.

 

Personal: The son of Michael and Lori Thomasson... Born March 6, 1985 in Ft. Worth Texas... Has two sisters, Rachel and Jenny...Graduated 15th in a class of 400...  Originally recruited by WSU out of high school... Majoring in marketing at WSU.
