AS A JUNIOR (2013)
Named All-MVC First Team as a utility player…Named NFCA All-America Scholar Athlete Award Winner…Named to the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll during Fall 2012 and Spring 2013 semesters… Earned MVC Commissioner’s Academic Award…Appeared in 49 games, starting 46, leading the Shockers in batting average (.290), slugging percentage (.435), on base percentage (.348) and triples (1)…Hit a game-winning home run in the eighth inning against Illinois State on April 20…Other two home runs came against Oklahoma State on April 25 and Creighton on May 5…Had seven multi-hit games including a season high three hits against Missouri State and Southern Illinois…Ranks second all-time in hit by pitch with 24, just two shy from breaking the record of 25…Ranks 11th all-time in home runs (14), on base percentage (.379) and highest slugging percentage (.478).
AS A SOPHOMORE (2012)
Named to the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll during Fall 2011 and Spring 2012 semesters…Named to the MVC Honor Roll…Appeared in 51 games, starting 50, hitting .271 and led the Shockers in slugging percentage (.541), on-base percentage (.374), runs scored (28), RBI (26) and home runs (9)...Set the single season record for hit by pitch with 15 and is just five shy of breaking the career record of 25…Had nine multi-hit games including a season high three hits against Howard and Southern Illinois…Had six multi-RBI games including three each against Boise State, Saint Louis, and Northern Iowa.
AS A FRESHMAN (2011)
Appeared in 49 of the Shockers’ 57 games this season with 42 starts…Had 24 starts at third base, one in right field, and 18 as the designated player…Finished the season batting .297 with 33 hits, seven doubles, two triples, two home runs, 12 RBI, and 23 runs scored in 111 at bats…Had a .450 slugging percentage and .415 on-base percentage…Finished conference play with the second highest batting average on the team (.303) and led the team with one triple…At the Texas Tech Invitational, Carney hit .333 with three hits, one home run, two RBI, and six runs scored in nine at bats…She hit her first career home run against St. John’s…She led the Shockers against #19 Texas Tech, going 2-for-2 at the plate with two singles and two runs scored…Was hit-by-a-pitch and scored the game-tying run in the Shockers’ upset over preseason favorite Illinois State on March 26…Batted .600 with six hits, one double, two RBI, and scored three runs in the series sweep over Creighton on April 16-17…Went 2-for-2 and hit one double, one triple, picked up an RBI, and scored a run in the win against #18 Oklahoma State…Was a perfect 2-for-2 and hit a solo home run and scored two runs in the 12-4 win over Evansville on April 22…Led the Shockers to a 3-1 record in their last four games of the regular season as she hit .445 on the week with five hits, including a double and a triple, in 11 at bats.
HIGH SCHOOL
Played for the Andale Indians in Andale, Kan. under head coach Doris Hein where she led her team to four straight league championships and four appearances at the state tournament, eventually winning both a 4A and 5A state championship…Finished her high school softball career with an overall record of 90-10…Named DH of the year and to the All-Hutch area team in 2008…Named first team all-state in 2008 and second team all-state in 2010…She was an all-metro selection in 2010…Had a record breaking performance her senior year when she went four for six with three homers in a single game…Graduated in the top ten percent of her class with a 3.98 grade point average…Was a member of the National Honor Society and named to the Principal’s Honor Roll all four years…Carney was recognized as a Kansas Honor Scholar and a National Scholar-Athlete.
