2019: Indoor - Competed in eight meets, including nine top-3 finishes...Led the Shockers with season best marks in the shot put (16.35m/53-7.75) and weight throw (19.97m/65-6.25)...Recorded two top-3 finishes at the KU/KSU/WSU Triangular, won the weight throw (19.76m/64-10) and placed third in the shot put (15.93m/52-3.25)...Swept the Shocker Prelude throws winning the weight throw with a mark of 19.40m/63-7.75 and the shot put with a mark of 16.31m/53-6.25...Finished second at the Air Force Invitational with a mark of 18.67m/61-3...Recorded the sixth farthest weight throw mark in school history of 19.97m/65-6.25, finishing second at the American Athletic Conference Championships to earn all-conference honors.
Outdoor - Competed in shot put, discus and hammer in seven of the nine meets entered...Opened the season strong with three top-5 finishes at the Herm Wilson Invitational including two second place finishes in the discus (52.14m/171-1) and hammer (61.41m/201-6), placed fifth in shot put (16.32m/53-6.5)...Competed in the discus (11th, 51.05m/167-6) and hammer (23rd, 56.16m/184-3) at the 92nd Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays...Won the K.T. Woodman Classic discus (51.41m/168-8), second in shot put (16.79m/55-1) and third in hammer (58.61m/192-3)...Finished fourth in the 92nd Kansas Relays shot put with a mark of 16.67m/54-8.25...Set two Wichita State all-time top-10 marks on April 26 at the Texas Tech Corky/Crofoot Shootout in shot put (17.63m/57-10.25) and discus (55.26m/181-3), also placed third in hammer (58.56m/192-1)...Led the Shocker men in points scored with 17 at the American Athletic Conference Championships, earned all-conference honors with third place finishes in discus (52.03m/170-8) and hammer (60.25m/197-8), also placed fourth in shot put (17.09m/56-1)...Only male Shocker to qualify for the NCAA West Regional in three different events, placed 18th in discus (54.59m/178-9), 36th in hammer (58.73m/192-8) and fouled out in shot put.
Chadron State: Redshirted indoor and outdoor his freshman season...Finished second in the weight throw (16.90m/55-5.5) at the 2016 RMAC Indoor track and field championships...At the 2017 RMAC Indoor Track and Field Championships he finished third in the weight throw (17.27m/56-8) and fifth in the shot put (16.01m/52-6.5)...Won the 2017 RMAC Outdoor Championships discus throw with a personal best mark of 54.19m/177-9...Placed 16th in the discus (48.58m/159-4) at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships...Finished third in the weight throw (18.27m/59-11.25) and fourth in the shot put (15.82m/51-11) at the RMAC Indoor Track and Field Championships.
High School: As a senior at Newton High in 2014, he had bests of 55-7 in the shot put and 176-6 in the discus. Both marks ranked among the top eight in the all-class standings at the Kansas State Meet.
Personal: Son of Quent and Leisa Martens. A stellar student who received honorable mention on the RMAC academic lists during both the indoor and outdoor seasons and earned all A’s in the fall of 2016.
