Biography

Mitch was killed in a car accident on Aug. 23, 2010.  A memorial has been established in his name. Gifts may be directed to The Mitch Caster Memorial with the WSU Foundation, 1845 Fairmount, Wichita, KS 67260-0002.  A portion of the gifts will go to the Carl Hall Fund.

Mitch received his Associate of Arts degree from WSU posthumously on Dec. 12, 2010.

2011 SENIOR

Played summer ball for the Rochester (Minn.) Honkers.

2010 JUNIOR

Played in five games and made eight appearances on the mound, all in relief...Went 0-1 with a 9.82 ERA...Pitched 7 1/3 innings with seven strikeouts...Pitched a season-high two innings at Evansville on April 4...Struck out a season-high three against Bethany on April 21.

2009 SOPHOMORE

Played in 44 games with 32 starts, 17 in right field, 12 in left field, two as the designated hitter and one in centerfield...Hit .231 with 11 runs, 27 hits, four doubles, 10 RBI and five stolen bases...Made five appearances, all in relief...Went 0-0 with a 6.75 ERA...Pitched 5 1/3 innings with six strikeouts...Had two six-game hitting streaks...Had three multiple-hit games and two multiple-RBI games...Had a season-high four hits against Arkansas-Pine Bluff on March 17...Scored a season-high two runs against Arkansas-Pine Bluff on March 17...Had a season-high three RBI against Arkansas-Pine Bluff on March 17...Went 2-for-4 with a double against Illinois State on April 4...Went 1-for-3 with two RBI against Indiana State on May 2...Pitched a season-high two innings against Indiana State on May 3...Struck out a season-high two against Tabor on April 28 and against Indiana State on May 3.

2008 FRESHMAN

Played in 26 games with nine starts, four in left field, four in right field and one as the designated hitter...Hit .267 with six runs, one double, one home run, five RBI and one stolen base...Had two multiple-hit games...Had a four-game hitting streak from May 4-10...Had a season-high two hits against Kansas on April 22 and against Central Arkansas on May 6...Had a season-high one RBI five times...Went 2-for-4 with an RBI against Central Arkansas on May 6...Went 1-for-1 with an RBI and a home run at Florida State on June 7.

HIGH SCHOOL

Attended Goddard High School in Goddard, Kan...Lettered three years in baseball and three years in basketball...In baseball, named first team all-AVCTL, first team all-Metro, first team all-state and AVCTL Player of the Year in 2006...During junior season hit .600 with two home runs and 35 RBI...Did not play during senior season due to knee injury...Member of team that was state champions during freshman season...Member of team that was AVCTL League champions all four years and went to state three times...In basketball, named second team all-AVCTL during senior season...Named to the honor roll all four years.

Son of Mike and Susie Caster...Born March 27, 1989, in Wichita, Kan...Has two sisters, Melanie and Melissa...Is a field major/sociology major at WSU...Also recruited by Kansas and Kansas State.
