NEW YORK CITY, N.Y. – One of Wichita State's own was inducted into the Wheelchair Tennis Hall of Champions Wednesday at the US Open.

Wichita native Nick Taylor, the director of operations for Wichita State men's tennis, was among the honorees recognized as part of the Hall of Champions, introduced this year to celebrate the 50th anniversary of wheelchair tennis, at the UTSA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.

Taylor is one of wheelchair tennis's most accomplished players, collecting three Paralympic doubles gold medals, a bronze medal in quad singles at the 2012 London Paralympics and a silver medal in quad doubles at the 2016 Rio Paralympics. He also collected 11 Grand Slam titles and 11 Masters doubles victories with his partner David Wagner. Aside from his Paralympic success, Taylor has won seven US Open titles and four Australian Open titles.

Taylor has been involved with Wichita State men's tennis for more than two decades, first joining the program as an intern in 2004. He came back to the program as a volunteer coach in 2009 and now holds the role of director of operations.
